Review content:
Amici's is a nice, old-fashioned, ""white flour and red sauce"", Italian restaurant that really jets customers back to the 70's. This place looks like it was plucked right out of another decade and placed on North Sheridan near 52nd Avenue. The restaurant is very popular, especially with long-time Denver residents who know where it is. Other people might not ever try the restaurant because it is in a very run-down shopping center on its last legs. The restaurant itself is nice enough, and very clean, but suffers from a weak location. The restaurant is scheduled to move to Wadsworth Boulevard in the location of the old Gemini restaurant that is being completely renovated for a January 2009 opening. Rumor is that the move may be delayed until at least March, but I cannot verify. \r \r When we were there, we were pleased with the nice assortment of inexpensive house wines and the overall fair prices. The pizza was good, but not great. It was, however, generously topped with an abundance of ingredients, including fresh mushrooms-not canned. We passed on the other offerings after learning that, even though the pasta sauce they use is vegetarian, they do use it to ""warm-up"" the meatballs. Vegetarians will want to note this. \r \r Overall, the portions and prices seemed very reasonable and the restaurant was very popular. It was crowded even on a Wednesday evening. They have a loyal following and should do well for years, maybe even better in their new location. This is a family-owned restaurant and a good local value. Pros: Comfortable, open dining area Cons: Right now, it is in a really destitute shopping center
