I work for a big company in Stamford and frequently would have business lunches and dinners at Fio's Ristorante. The service at Fio's was always adequate, but I had a couple of less than great experiences with the food. Once, I had ordered eggplant and it had a slight but pervasive taste of freezer burn. At the time, I just thought that perhaps it was my tastebuds that day. However, the main reason I will never return to Fio's myself is because of the last time I was there for lunch with a colleague. My friend ordered a chicken dish and complained that it tasted very odd, that there were things in the dish he was eating that he didn't quite know what they were. I had ordered soup and a salad. I'd just about eaten half of the soup when I found a huge dead fly (I'm not kidding) in the bowl. It looked like it had been there a long time, cooking in the soup. It was really disgusting. We called the manager over at once and he didn't seem ruffled by it or very apologetic. He did, however, take the soup off the bill. The whole experience made me question the freshness and cleanliness of their kitchen and food preparation. I have since not recommended Fio's for business or social gatherings. Pros: Cozy dining area Cons: Food is not good, not fresh.
