Review content:
My wife and I eat here 2-3 times a year when we visit relatives in New Ulm. The service has always been fast and efficient, if not friendly. We usually order a burger and waffle fries but have tried most of the foods on the menu. The pastas are OK for a non-Italian restaurant. The 1/2 lb. charbroiled burgers are very tasty if ordered well done, otherwise they tend to be undercooked and pink inside. We recently (August '11) ordered the 1/4 lb. burgers and were disappointed. The patties were very thin (slightly thicker than White Castle sliders). They have a good selection of tap beers but would be better if served colder. They have an ample amount of medium sized flat-screens if you don't mind eating in the bar while watching a game. Overall, the food is your average bar / grill fare but the Lamplighter lacks the atmosphere most of the metro area sports bars possess.
