Review content:
My friend and I went to Perilla on a Friday night--early--as reservations can be hard to get. We were greated warmly and seated immediately upon arrival. We ordered glasses of rose wine to start, after our server offered us a sample. The wine was perfect for a warm summer evening. The menu isn't extensive, but since this is a relatively new restaurant, perhaps it shouldn't be. I had the pork belly appetizer, which was outstanding--crispy on the outside and juicy and tasty on the inside--and the special pappardelle carbonara, which our server offered to bring as either an appetizer or entree. My friend had the duck, which was perfectly cooked. We moved on to dessert--individual carrot cake and ginger ice cream for me and a trio of sorbet for my friend. The desserts weren't extremely inventive but they were tasty. Both dishes were light enough to send us out into the evening without the food coma that can come with super-sweet desserts. Both of us were very happy with what we ordered. Pros: food, service, wine, location
