Review content:
I went to Fashions by Anne to get a cocktail length silk dress made for my wedding. Even after the first visit, I left the shop with an upset feeling in my stomach, but believed her when she said she could make it happen. Now, I wish I would have gone with my gut. At our first meeting (nine months prior to my wedding date) Anne asked me to go to stores to purchase the dress fabric and patterns. Though I had never sewn a day in my life, I decided that the confusion of pattern and fabric shopping would be worth it, if it kept the cost down. Poor choice on my part! Three months (to the day) before my wedding, I got a call from a stranger. She said that she worked for Fashions by Anne. Her opening statement was that she had some questions about my dress, my stomach immediately sank, her tone told me that this was not going to be a happy phone call. She followed that by launching into a detailed story about how long she had looked for patterns, how many people she had consulted about my measurements, and how she just didn't think she'd be able to find a structured pattern that would fit ""a big girl"" like me. She tried to cushion this bomb by letting me know that she was a ""big girl"" too, but I had tuned out by that point. You see, I'm not what Paula (whose never placed eyes on me) seems to consider a big girl because I sit around eating garbage all day watching my stories, I am overweight due to a disease and the medication I am prescribed to keep me healthy. Paula continued to yammer on for about 20 minutes about why I was going to be so hard to fit, while I did my best to hold back loud sobs. I am 5'6"" and a size 14 by the way, not too repulsive, or so I thought. Needless to say, I am now getting my dress made elsewhere. Anne is very concerned that this ""incident"" not hurt her business reputation. Well I think she's lucky that I didn't print this review in the paper, because it's all true, and the public deserves to know. And this ""incident"" hurt me.
Pros: Returned 3 out of 4 voice mails left in 5 months time
Cons: Capabilities, Personality, Service
