Review content:
I have been a resident of J26 for almost a year. I was in my assigned parking spot on the 6th level of the garage when my vehicle would not start. A maintenance man was kind enough to give me a jump. That day I had to replace the battery and perform maintenance on my vehicle. I could not park in my assigned space on the 6th level to perform diagnostics because of the layout of the garage and the vehicles next to me. So I parked in the visitor section of the gargae on the ground level which allows future residents to park between the hours of 10 to 8 p.m. I parked here at 4:10 p.m and there were no other vehicles parked at this time. I had to leave so that I did not miss a defining job interview and asked a friend to come look at the vehicle and repair it. He finished the work in a little under an hour and text me immediately. When I came back to the garage at 5:30 p.m. my vehicle had already been towed and there was still no other vehicles parked. I learned that the vehicle had been towed at the order of the Lead Maintenance Manager at 5:20 p.m. When I contacted the office to politely explain the situation and request that he have the vehicle released I was denied. As the maintenance manager he IS EMPOWERED to have the vehicle released at no charge. He refused. Not only was he unempathic of the situation but demonstrated the worst management conflict resolution skills i have ever encountered. I explained over and over that I did not have an extra $215 to get my vehicle out of the impound after all the money I had to spend performing maintenance on the vehicle (which is why it was originally parked in an open space). I then further supported the situation by offering receipts of the battery and parts and mentioned that one of his men had to give me a jump and helped me earlier. This was in no way an abuse of convenient parking. He refused to speak to me citing,""she should have left a note."" In a situation of urgency and panic, most people dont generally organize plans. You just react, which is what I did when I had my friend come fix the car. Again, it was only there for an hour before being towed, and that particular parking is available until 8 p.m. My registered vehicle being parked in an empty section of the garage in no way created a disruption to the flow of business. It was a matter of urgency and necessity. My vehicle has a registered tenant sticker which stuns me that employees can have such little regard or empathy for the customers who guarantee they keep a job in this economy. Occupancy for this particular property did not do as well as projected, therefore whatever business they are able to retain is critical to the success of this development. This gross abuse of power by a maintenace man, will be reason enough for me not to renew my lease in July. I refuse to live somewhere where the staff is so detached and unyielding to assist struggling students. I pay rent here!! Why would you want to hurt the people that are building your revenue?!! It was an empty part of the garage that affected no one!! Whats worse I didnt have the money and had to borrow it, it has put me behind on bills!! Way to practice BAD BUSINESS J26!!! Cons: Tows Vehicles of Paying Residents w Car trouble
