Review content:
Jakes is a Portland institution but I am not sure why, maybe because it was established when there wasn't much compation? It always has good solid service and good solid food but that is the problem they are happy with good and therefore never go beyond good. There are so many places in Portland that try harder and are sincere in their efforts, they often go well beyond good, why not support one of them? I have eaten at Jakes a dozen times now and have never had anything that was great come out of the kitchen (never anything bad either), I am sure I will be going back with some group of friends, but I hope not.
Pros: consistent
Cons: mediocre
