Review content:
I eat out often and like to give a restaurant a couple of tries before deciding on the quality. I usually give good reviews but am convinced that this place if it wasn't part of a hotel would have long ago been shut down. I went for dinner on a Thursday and a couple of weeks later on a Friday evening and there were barely anyone there with a low lighting to suggest either no one wanted to be seen or so the guests couldn't see how empty the place was. Service was terrible with the most effort spent on trying to have us buy more and more wine. Obviously to hide the quality of the food. This place is way understaffed it seems as well and the attitude seems to be more of annoyance than helpfulness. The food was ok but the veal was nothing that any well regarded restaurant in town couldn't beat. A friend had the calamari and thought it was chewy. The salads were marginal each time. The desserts were ok but nothing worthwhile. My dinner companions both evenings felt the same way and we all vowed never to go back. There are just too many great italian places in NYC to enjoy a great meal without lousy service, ok food and an outrageous bill. The best part was the wine. This hotel should shut it down and bring in a good restaurant. Also very perplexed as to the good reviews for this place, either it is filled with octogenarians who have no taste buds or people who drank so much wine they could have been fed twinkies and thought it was filet mignon.
Pros: good wine
Cons: service and very overpriced for quality of fodd
