Having just come back from Japan earlier this year, I had gotten two (regular) massages while I was there but both left me wanting more. I searched through Manhattan for an authentic Japanese shiatsu massage and found this place online after reading a few good reviews. I've been having lower back pains due to poor posture and sitting at a computer desk all day. I've gone through physical therapy and am doing better but wanted to see if a massage would help. After finding the location, I was surprised how much it looked like a plain doctor's office. There was a small desk with some papers and after being escorted in and taking off my shoes, I was brought into the locker room. It should be noted that it is co-ed so all you are given is a towel and you can use either of the 2 shower stalls or the sauna to relax before your massage. I've since gone twice to get massages and both were slightly different but incredible massages. As recommended by other reviews, I requested they walk on my back and always left incredibly satisfied. I'd say there are only about 6 rooms or so and 1-2 are couples rooms so you may be put into a room with someone else getting a massage as well (I've always called in a day or so early just to let them know I was coming). The actual massage begins with general warming up of your body and then proceeds into the lady walking on your back and the rest of your body if you so choose. One time they gave a little more basic massaging before leaving and another time they gave a swedish foot massage with some oils to finish. The shiatsu puts a lot of pressure on your body so if you don't like deep tissue, you can opt to get the swedish instead. I got exactly what I wanted, an hour long deep tissue / shiatsu massage for 70 dollars which is a bargain. If you expect a fancy spa and other services, this may not be the place to visit but if you all you want is a great back cracking massage, this is definitely the place to check out! Pros: Inexpensive, No Frills Excellent Massage, Very Polite Cons: Possibly Getting a Roommate
