Review content:
I spent close to three months at Kinnic Falls during the summer and fall of 2010. As far as halfway houses go, it's the best in Minnesota/Wisconsin. The accomodations are excellent, the food is even better and the staff are top notch (with a few exceptions) They have a few whistle blowers running around who can be a real pain in the butt but the main counselors are all top notch. If you are fortunate, you will get Bill! It's a pretty structured environment with a couple of groups a day and you'll need to attend at least two outside AA/NA meetings a week. No need to worry about transportation as they have a few vans and plenty of drivers around. You are allowed to work while you're there but it would be unrealistic to attempt to work a full time job as many groups are mandatory and you will be expected to perform a house job. Typically this will only take a few minutes (unless you're doing dishes) but you'll need to be there to do it, or get someone else to do it for you which is not always easy. Even so, there is plenty of time for recreation at Kinnic, they have mountain bikes, and plenty of other sports gear lying around for those who like football, baseball or volleyball. You'll have a little more time to enjoy yourself on the weekend and once you are there for a month, you can take a weekend pass with staff approval. Kinnic does UAs after every weekend pass, so if you get loaded on your weekend pass it's best not to go back, there is a zero tolerance for anyone who uses drugs or alcohol. Excellent food, great staff, air conditioning and a comfortable environment. No one should expect 5 star hotel conditions when entering a halfway house but Kinnic is about as good as your going to find, I would highly recommend it!
