Good: Staff is friendly and courteous, even when I was upset over an iPod theft. I am greeted when I come in with a smile and a friendly greeting ("good morning", "hello", etc). That goes with leaving as well. I use their personal trainer service: they are courteous and professional. I have three children (8,10 & 11). They love the pool. Other members respect my space (read: no one is chatting at me as I get my workout done) and consistently wipe down equipment after use.. Bad: This is a high theft area, per a Redmond police officer. Cars are consistently targetted (don't leave valuables in your car) and unattended items will go missing inside (use a lock in the locker rooms). My 11 year old had her iPod stolen while in the kids center. Note that the older kids' area is not under video surveillance. I filed a police report and the reporting officer passed on the info above. Gold's post warnings and notices to drive member awareness of these risks...they aren't kidding.. Improvements: Security improvements and an improved protocol for tracking incidents. If a police report is not filed then no record is made. How can Gold's senior management make informed decisions on security without data as to how severe a problem it represents? Their database seems to have frequent issues holding data. Plan on giving them your contact information whenever you need them to call you...like setting personal trainer appointments.. Other: Regarding Gold's sale staff: they are obviously paid on what they sell. This incents a predictable behavior. The contract is clear. Think of your cellular phone service provider. Joining is a serious financial commitment. Regarding the equipment: appears to be superior equipment to what I've seen in other, lower cost, gym's. I really appreciate how well the aerobic equipment picks up on heart-rate monitor (I've used Polar FT60 and Timex Personal Trainer monitors)..
