Review content:
The transmission in my 2006 Suburban first went out at 122,000 miles just outside New Braunfels. A local mechanic recommended a local shop. The local guy told me he could rebuild it for $1,500 including the tow - good deal right? Even warranteed the rebuild for 12 months / 12K miles. Fast forward eight months and twenty something thousand miles - here come the same problems that precluded the first rebuild. This time I had choices and a friend recommended Eagle Transmission. When i brought it in Joe and Tim told me it could be a lot of things - from a $26 part to a full rebuild. Well.....it was another full rebuild. I told the guys about my previous rebuild and gave them the receipt. They went over it part by part and verified that the other guy did in fact do everything he charged me for - he just didn't do everything he needed to do and he used shoddy parts. Joe walked me around the entire shop and explained the workings of an automatic transmission to me (black majic up to that point) and how they operate the shop, from the tear down tables through to the rebuild rack. I was really surprised by how clean and organized everything was. My Grandfather ran a shop, and it was nothing like this. Joe and Tim explained what had gone wong with my transmission and the repairs and upgrades they would do. Two days later I got my truck back and it was perfect. Having these guys do the job right cost me a few hundred dollars more than having someone else do it wrong. There's not a doubt in my mind that my transmission is back to 100%, and if I do have a problem in the future, I know these guys will stand behind their work and their 3 year 36K mile warranty. No one likes having their car worked on, and everyone has a story about being burned. Finding honest people to work on your car is a rare piece of mind. I couldn't recommend these guys more highly.
