I suspect that the earlier reviewer and I must have eaten at different restaurants. Far from being a greasy spoon, Diane's Restaurant is very clean and accommodating with a feel of days gone by. By eating there, it's almost like being transported back to a simpler time when working men and women ate in diners and cafés ... and liked what they ate as well as where they ate it. On no occasion have I been greeted by anything less than stellar service and wholesome meals.
Their only limitation is that they serve only breakfast and lunch. They close promptly at 3:00 PM and "dinner" is not on their menu. But, this is no different than the large number of restaurants to serve only lunch and dinner ... preferring to distance themselves from a breakfast crowd.
If you're looking for a fancy restaurant serving gourmet food ... or waiters wearing tuxes who come to your table with pepper grinders and a wine list, Diane's Restaurant is not for you. But, if you're one of the regular people who knows good service and good food when you see it, your visit to Diane's Restaurant will not be disappointing.
