The doctors at Somerset Oral are fine: skilled, and professional. It's a shame that dealing with their insurance and accounting staff has turned a positive initial experience into a complete nightmare. They submitted my claim to the wrong insurance company. The payment was denied. Rather than contact me to tell me that, they just kept billing me for the whole amount, which was obviously a mistake. Without ever phoning me to find why my claim was denied, or sending a warning that they were going to refer the account, they sent it to an attorney who immediately filed suit, adding on almost $200 in attorney's fees (On a $300 bill! - that's 66% interest). I contacted them, and found out that though they had submitted it to the wrong company, they refused to submit it to the right one. It was my problem, not theirs; they wouldn't deal with me in any way. I have been trying to pay what I actually owe them for 4 months now, and no one will talk to me. I even wrote to the doctors, thinking they surely wouldn't want loyal customers treated so cruelly. Unfortunately, everyone was happy to let the attorneys take it to court, gouge me with fees and ruin my credit rating. I applied to the correct insurance company myself; I've received the payment for services, and they won't take it. I have been a loyal customer for 10 years with a good job and 3 kids to raise, I have always paid any bills promptyl and completely; and I was treated like a deadbeat and a criminal, cruelly and severely penalized for a mistake that was theirs to start with. Is that the way to treat a well-intentioned customer? I don't think so. If you agree, then do not patronize them until they change their accounting staff and their draconian policies.
