Located in the fashion district of NYC, this school museum is home to the largest collection of costumes, textiles, and apparel dating from the eighteenth century in the world.
Founded in 1967 to support the educational programs of the Fashion Institute of Technology, The Museum at FIT is today one of only a handful of museums in the world devoted to the art of fashion. Best known for its innovative, award-winning exhibitions, the museum also has one of the world's most important collections of fashion and textiles, which it collects, conserves, documents, exhibits, and interprets for the purposes of education and inspiration.
Exhibitions change throughout the year so check their website for current information. Take a one hour tour or just stroll through the galleries and admire the handiwork of the various collections on display. Whatever they have on display is sure to thrill any person who loves fashion. And admission to the exhibitions is FREE!
Open: Tues-Friday, 12-8PM, Saturday 10-5
