The Railroad Museum is a great place to take your kids if they are grade school or older. This is a really large museum where you can learn about the history of the railroad and the part Sacramento played in the railroad system. It is located in Old Town Sacramento on the Sacramento River. I remember we went through one train and it would jar back and forth giving you the feeling you were actually on a train ride.
