Willie's Grill & Icehouse is a great place to get a meal any day of the week or weekend. My husband and I have eaten in on one occasion and have done take-out on many other occasions.
Dining in, the staff are friendly and attentive. The ambiance and decor are interesting. Each table has a roll of paper towels - no messing about with napkins. I like that the walls can fold away on warm days and that there are ceiling fans all over the place on the inside and on the patio. It's nice to be inside and yet be outside while you eat. The dine in service is relatively fast. You can always busy yourself by watching one of the many TVs while you wait. I don't know how busy it gets at the weekend but I don't think you have to wait to be seated very often.
The take-out staff are very good over the phone and OK when you go in to pick up. There are a lot of people working there and they don't seem to communicate about take-out orders so occasionally you'll get a person who's trying to look for your order when its sitting right in front of them. Doesn't happen often though. In any case, its relatively fast - 20 minutes from call to pick-up on average.
Ive tried their steak which is very good but not as good as places like Saltgrass, obviously. It'll do for a cheap steak, definitely. Ive also tried their Buffalo Chicken Tenders which are great (as are the bites which are the same thing in chunk format). The sauce is HOT but if you take-out the sauce comes in little containers so you can spice up the chicken to your own preferences.
I love their Queso, both the plain and the Icehouse versions. The Icehouse comes with beef mixed in. The chips are always very good too.
Overall, a nice place to eat or take-out from. I prefer Willie's over Chillie's.
