Cute 50's Diner 1/19/2007

The Corvette Diner is a world famous legendary restaurant! This is where my husband and I went on our first date. We are a rockabilly couple, so we definatley enjoyed the decor, the waitresses' attitude and the loud music. Every seat in the place gives you a great view of the whole restaurant. Service is a little bitchy on purpose, and they all have fake 50's names. They shower you with soda straws the minute you take your seats and shower you with Bazooka bubblegum as you're leaving your table. On weekends, the waitresses wear huuuuge wigs and there is a live DJ that you can request old rock n roll songs to. Sometimes the waitresses and busboys even have to organize a dance routine in the middle of the floor to entertain you! The wait can be pretty long on Friday, Sat and Sunday nights, and they won't seat you until your whole party is present, so make sure you come early. The menu items have cute, kitschy names, but I'm not impressed with the taste of the food. (Ruby's Diner has much better food.) The Elvis shake is my personal favorite (marshmallows, peanut butter and bananas). Parking is a little tough, but they do have a small valet lot right next to the place. I like to bring people to corvette who have never been, but then I regret it once we pay $10 for a not-so-awesome hamburger. At least the shakes make up for it! more
