My husband and I have been on two Caiola Travel tours, one of southern Italy, and one in Hawaii. I'm usually pretty critical of things, but was fairly pleased on both occasions. I do a lot of business traveling and have stayed in LOTS of hotels. The hotels Caiola Travel provided have generally been quite good. In almost all cases, the hotels were of much better quality than I had expected. I've been in better only occasionally, but at quite steep prices. In most cases, the food was pleasing as well. However, in Italy I felt that not enough meals were included as part of the tour.
Whether the optional tours are worth it varies from tour to tour. In general, I've been fairly pleased with them.
Of course, there were some spots we visited that we didn't care for, and some spots we missed that we felt should have been included. However, this is a known part of bus tours. One itinerary could not possibly please 30 to 50 people on a bus.
After mentally adding up all of the costs associated with the hotels, meals, tours, et cetera. We've felt that the Caiola Travel in both cases were well worth it. I've been on a bus tour with Cosmos, and have seen that the additional cost of going with Caiola Travel is well worth it.
I would say that any prearranged group tour, whether it be bus or any other means, might not be ideal for those with walking difficulties. Many of the included excursions require good walking skills, and I have seen some elderly people disappointed because they could not keep up or participate at all. But this is travel advice in general, not specifically pointing to a fault with Caiola Travel .
