La Spiga loses its soul 12/28/2006

I was one of the first customers when they were on Broadway...I reveled when they had communal seating! The owners were always nice, the food always unbelievable! The new location, although great ideas and love the more space...I was so disappointed with the food and service that I almost cried. The place had lost its soul. When we asked for a wine by the glass list, the waiter told us that they must have not given it to us, then tried to tell us of the wines by memory, barely pronouncing sangiovese...Half a pour later,I asked what the soup was...he said ...looking to the sky as if it were written there..."umm its a minestrone (again barely pronouncing that) and spinach. I told him "I would like the piadina with sausage and then we'll decide..." Before the app got there, he came and asked us if we were ready..uh ok..we'll have lasagna and the a soup and arugula salad. What felt like 2 minutes later, our app came...ALONG WITH the soup and lasagna. WHAT THE @@##!!?? So we had to hurry and eat the appetizer so the food wouldn't get cold...oh but the lasagna was already cold, so we sent it back to reheat. THE knock-out punch was the "arugula salad with frisee and radicchio" it came with ($10!!) green lettuce...absolutely NO arugula...not even one stalk of frissee and maybe some radicchio! I was so upset...this place used to be the BOMB! I WILL NEVER EVER COME BACK THERE....they need to hire the people that love food again. I would rather it stay in a gross shopping center and have its soul back. I love you Sachia, but you lost me. more
