Hooray I have a thai home close to Riverside. Aura thai is it. All the traditional offerings but done a bit more upscale. The inside is beautiful and calming I was stressed after work yesterday and immediately I relaxed. Low lights orange walls. Giant black and white picture of a thai women in headress. Those in the know will recognize it as the old Fatty Tuna location and wine zealots will know it is across the street from Wine Warehouse. Word is it is the son of the owners of Taste of Thai on University.... who ever it is it is good. I had fresh spring rolls they were small but good the ones at Pattata Thai are huge but usually have to much mint. My mom had fried spring rolls and found them to be good. Matt had the crispy squid. I was so happy to try the squid it was done in a very good batter and the squid was not tough. For dinner we shared crispy shrimp ( it was good but I should have tried one of the curries), Cashew shrimp and straw mushrooms ginger, and a seafood green curry that was AWESOME and I am not normally a green curry fan I like panang but this was again AWESOME. Next I forsee one of the dishes with hot basil and another curry. They recently started opening for lunch but just M-F. They are open M-Sa for dinner. They had a nice wine and SAKE menu thank god b/c that is my favorite drink. We opted for the Reisling on this trip though. That was delicious too. Thomas Schmitt Reisling. They do 2 for one wines 5-7 but we missed that oh well there is always next time. I also promise to go often b/c I don't want the chance of it closing down. They have the menu on the website.
