My cousin went to Dr. Wong for his braces and it took a whopping six years before he could get them off. Typical is two to three years for children. A bunch of my classmates in Jr. High were also patients of his and I noticed that they had braces for a few years longer than usual, also. I've heard that he is conscientous and a perfectionist , which can be a good thing. Kids don't mind wearing braces too much after their gums get used to them, but this extra long wearing time could be problematic for adults who don't want to walk around the office with a metal mouth for too long.
