It is Christmas shopping time and as usual the newspapers are full of store ads offering "sales".
I find that these ads are not promoting a sale but rather "sales", if you know what I mean.
It appears that no matter how hard they try to make their ads look like a big sale is on, it is really just an ad to garner sales.
An exception that I have found is JC Penney Co. There ads usually do show a temporary drop in price of some items. For instance, this Saturday from 6a.m to midnight they are having a sale where you can get at least 10% off of merchandise (this includes merchandise that is presently on sale).
I especially enjoy finding the clearance items at JC Penney. They always have some really good bargains on their clearance racks.
Between 6 am and noon they are offering a 7 inch portable dvd player for $59.99 after a $50.00 mail in rebate. You are not going to find that price anywhere else. This player's normal price is $149.99 and is on sale for $109.99 before the rebate.
I'll be getting up early Saturday.
