My experience with Frio's was great, although limited.
I went in for a Smog Check. The car was finished when they said it would be, but they told me it had failed the visual inspection because of a bad evaporation valve.
Well, hmm... Is this the old, you've got some valve you can't see but trust us you need to replace it trick? Absolutely not.
Cliff, the courteous sales manager, explained the problem, looked up the part, and gave me an estimate before I left.
They ordered the valve, called me when it was in, replaced it, re-tested for free, and had me on my way in just over an hour.
When I got into my car, the old valve was in a plastic bag on the passenger seat for my inspection. Classy.
Also, during my two trips there, I saw a diverse neighborhood crowd in the waiting area, heard lots of genuinely friendly and good-natured banter between the customers and the various workers, and witnessed plenty of handshakes and hugs.
All in all, I'm convinced that this is a decent, hard-working business that cares about its customers and treats them right.
The only reason I stopped at four stars is I have only gone for very minor repairs. Should I need more extensive work, I'll return to Frio and update the rating if necessary.
