The Local Shack

I don't know about you, but I'm sick of the typical "bar food" offered at your local Lincoln Park establishments. With that said, I would love to go somewhere more eclectic and themed, but I'm also on an emerging yuppie's budget. This is where The Local Shack comes into play. The Local Shack's menu is neither typical nor expensive. The crowd is casual, welcoming, and not the collegiate, "meat market" type energy you'd encounter at Kincade's or McGee's. In addition, I have yet to find a better "n'awlins" style, Cajun bar and restaurant in the area. The crab cake sandwich is high recommended, along with all of the various taco (steak, fish, shrimp, and more) and po' boy meals (with oysters, shrimp, and a variety of other seafood). The prices are more than reasonable, and the portions are extraordinary. You can't end your meal without a slice of key lime pie, either. With drink deals all week long, it's a must-go for anyone in Lincoln Park looking for something more than a throwback to your college days. Even the Shack can get rowdy during game times, however, so bring your drinking shoes if you love baseball (or football) season! more
