We are originally from the New York area, and have found that good "New York style" or authentic Italian pizza is hard to come by around here. We were losing hope, then Pizza Italiana opened up. We have since become regulars there and can't say enough about how great their pizza is! There are several pizza places well within a 5 minute drive for us, but we gladly make the 25 minute drive to experience a slice of heaven. We frequently order a pizza with meatballs on it, which isn't offered on the menu, but they are accommodating. Their meatballs are amazing, and their cannolis (which are hard to find in the west) are enough to bring us back as frequently as we can. In all truthfulness, on one occasion we went, and neither of the owners were around. The food was mediocre on that day (we ordered calzones), which seems to me that whoever was the cook wasn't following the same recipes/ procedures as the owner would. Hopefully that person is better trained now. The owners are incredibly friendly, and make a real effort to know their customers.
I'm aware that different people have different tastes in pizza, and if you're used to a more west coast type of pizza, this may not be your favorite. But if you enjoy a good New York style pizza, you have to check this place out!!
