Just tried Slo Joe's on Mercer Island this weekend. I was underwhelmed.
Slo Joe's is a new barbecue restaurant chain from the Taco del Mar ownership.
I would have to say that everything they got right in their TDM stores they got wrong in Slo Joe's.
First of all the portions are small and lack any presentation value, served up in a rather sterile black Styrofoam box.
Second, there's nothing special or interesting about the food. It reminded me of what you get in a school cafeteria.
Third, the prices are much too high considering the plainness of the food.
I had the Pulled Pork sandwich. Dry, uninteresting--doesn't hold a candle to the Pecos Pit Pulled Pork sandwich.
My wife had the featured Chicken Cesar Salad. I tasted and have had fresher and better salads straight out of the bag from the grocery store.
Somebody fell asleep at the switch when the TDM folks decided to branch out.
I doubt very much if I will return to Slo Joe's.
