My friend had granite countertops installed last weekend, a project I assisted him with. I wanted to post a review for the granite installation company we worked with.
Name: Advance Granite & Marble
Location: Seattle area
Contact: Konstantin Aslanyan
Number: 206.349.1884 / 425.430.4208
Facts: Insured & bonded
Recommendation: Highly recommend if you don't mind doing a bit of work yourself...but in the end, you save a ton of money.
Konstantin was very easy to work with. He obviously works very hard & long hours to keep a successful business running. He fits people in very quickly and will work nights/weekends to adjust to your schedule. He was at least 30% less than most places we had bid. He makes no money on the granite & only makes you pay what he had to pay to buy it. Most places (Lowes, etc) mark-up their granite 50% at least. The process went as follows:
Consultation - comes to house to review area needing granite, measures & provides free estimate
Selection - select the granite by visiting his shop in Seattle or letting him know the name if you already selected a granite color
Cutting - Over the next 7 days, Konstantin & team will cut your granite & prepare for installation
Installation - They arrive at your house & for most jobs are done within one day
Payment - He takes half up front to buy the granite & half when done (he will accept cash or check)
Entire process from end-to-end: 2 weeks
What I wish we had known prior:
*Home owners have to remove the old counters themselves (wasn't too hard)
*Home owners need to cut & lay the plywood base for the granite themselves (we actually bought the plywood and had a hand saw available and had Konstantin do it, so this is flexible)
*Be very clear up front what fit & finish Konstantin will do. They made some small holes in the wall due to needing to lower a bar and we had to patch & repair
*He doesn't clean up afterwards...you need to deal with all the dust & clean-up
*He won't hook up your sink or garbage disposal (they are not licensed for that). Have a plumber ready to go once the install is done.
*If re-hooking up the sink/garbage disposal yourself, take a picture of what the piping/hook-up looks like before you un-hook it so it is easier to put it back together once the install is done.
