Bobby Flay has always bothered me because he thinks he's God's gift to the food network, but his restaurant Bar American is actually very very good. The decor is rich tones and a really gorgeous split-level space. We were seated on the balcony that over looks the main floor. First, the drinks are very good. I tried a Kir Royal and a Belle Poire. We then ordered to much food! My meal started with French onion soup, expect the cheese was cheddar. Amazing! The dinner rolls were warm, and some had an herbed, smoked cornbread taste to them. I had like six. We ordered a bunch of side dishes to share like a trio of seafood salads. The lobster mixed with corn and potatoes in a sort of creamy sauce was fantastic. My favorite side was called hot potatoes with blue cheese sauce. It was very thin but big and lightly fried strips of potatoes that you dipped into warm blue cheese. This was heavenly. I could've eaten it as my main course. My entrée was salmon, grilled to perfection and accompanied by a cranberry flavored cous-cous. I didn't have any room for dessert, but the meal was excellent. Several others had steak and said that was also very good. We had like 3 waiters, each being very attentive and polite. It's definitely not a cheap place, but fabulous and filling food!
