UES Diner with a Twist 10/21/2006

This diner seems to attract people of all ages - families, couples, young, old, you name it, they're all there. The space is very bright and open, lending to a very pleasant atmosphere. Here's the twist - they have a bar! Not the kind of bar you'd come to after work or a weekend, but they have booze. I got one of the brunch specials, what a deal! For $11.95 (normal brunch is $10.95, but my salmon made it a dollar more) I got the eggs benedict with salmon and potatoes. AND I got OJ (which was FRESH SQUEEZED) AND I got a cup of tea....AND I got my choice of a mimosa, bloody mary, or screwdriver. I took the mimosa. The champagne was actually GOOD. My husband got a bloody mary, that was GREAT. We were both buzzed afterwards. So, they put a pretty good amount of alcohol in our drinks. What an amazing bargain! Wait staff is patient and friendly. Food was pretty good, though the homefries were a little disappointing, eggs benedict was great. Even when packed, food comes out pretty quickly, and everything came out at once, so I covered my tea to keep it hot while I enjoyed my mimosa. All-in-all, definitely one of the better diners around, and I would go back. more
