Where Husband and Kids Go When You Kick Them Out 10/5/2006

When I host Bunco at my house, one of the biggest arrangements that needs to be made is where to send my husband and sons for the evening. Our Bunco group starts at 6:30 with dinner, so sending my husband and kids out to dinner is a perfect start to their disappearing act. Papa’s Pizza is a local restaurant that is just perfect for entertaining my kids while allowing them to eat dinner. Unlike Chuck E. Cheese, Papa’s Pizza does not have tons of video games and a costumed character roaming the restaurant. Papa’s has a good sized play area with an indoor play structure, similar to McDonalds, but much bigger. They also have a 4 person merry-go-round, a small ferris wheel and a caged in area where kids can shoot hoops with lots of bouncy balls that are all over the floor. There is no charge for any of the activities in the play area and my kids usually have to be dragged away when it’s time to eat pizza. The pizza is pretty good and there is a nice selection of unconventional pizza combinations like “shrimp boat”, chicken fajita and taco pizza. Of course they also have all the classics too. Prices for the pizzas are anywhere from $12 for a small plain pizza up to $20 or more for the fancier and larger varieties. Since Papa’s Pizza Parlor is close to our home, and never as crowded as Chuck E. Cheese, it’s a pretty relaxing place to take kids to burn off their steam, or just lay low for a few hours until Mom is done with hosting Bunco. more
