After randomly deciding to stay in Astoria, OR while on our honeymoon roadtrip, we started the sometimes arduous task of locating a place to stay for the night. Usually not difficult, unless you are traveling with dogs like we were. We ended up staying at the Crest Motel, which has been reviewed in the Dog Lover's Companion Guide to the Pacific Northwest. With a Scandinavian decor, the Crest was an interesting stop. The interior in our room was badly in need of renovations/updating. The carpets were old, and the curtains were on their last legs, but the place was clean, everyone was very friendly, our doggies stayed free, and the views were spectacular. Our sliding glass door opened to a beautiful courtyard where we watched the sun set on the water. The continental breakfast was simple, but surprisingly good. English muffins, bagels, muffins, among others were available for the taking.
