Café du Nord is a nice, cozy little venue. I was there quite a while back, but I remember the entire place was well decorate with reds and band posters, as well as dimly lit, giving a very intimate ambiance. The stage area is very small and close to the ground, making it great for experiencing your favorite band up close and personal. You are literally close enough to feel their sweat drops on your face. The place becomes quite warm though, especially when enmeshed in a giant crowd massed near the stage area.
Beware however, that taking the BART to this location isn’t the smartest idea, as it is quite a walk from the station (around a mile) and in a very bad, dark, and homeless infested neighborhood. Be safe, don’t walk, or at least bring weapons if you decide to do so.
