The market is dirty, the staff in unfriendly, and the offerings are not exactly gourmet. I was looking to make carpaccio with arugula and went to Lexington Market, which was convenient from my home in Bolton Hill. I couldn't find arugula and the staff at two stalls had no idea what I was talking about nor did they have any burning desire to help me. The tenderloin for the carpaccio was fine, but the place is so dirty and smelly I had a tough time trusting the meat completely. I would stay away from this hole, tradition and history be damned. more
