Ok, so I'm not that old, but I was in my senior year of high school when Carmike first opened. My friends and I were so impressed with how nice it was...it was so new that it smelled more like fresh paint than your typical old popcorn! That was about 6 years ago, and I'm a little sorry to say that it isn't nearly as nice now. I recently went to see a movie there and was surprised at how dirty it was. I don't know what the staff does after one movie and before the next, but they don't clean! There were empty containers and sticky stuff everywhere when we went in. It took a few minutes (and a few previews) before they could get the sound and picture to work correctly, and as a result it took about 15 additional minutes after showtime for the movie to start, just so they could work out all the problems. Carmike sometimes shows movies that the Regal cinemas don't, but I'd probably go to another theater next time otherwise.
