Tregembo Animal Park 11/12/2006

So yesterday my family and i were heading to Kure Beach to visit the aquarium there when we passed Tregembo Animal Park. The word zoo painted in large black letters just drew me right in and i told my husband that we just had to go there and check it out. So we stopped back by on our way home and boy are we glad! Walking inside the doors you end up in a large gift shop and we were greeted by 2 friendly lady's who informed us that not only could we walk around the zoo and look at the animals but that you can actually feed most of them. Are you kidding me!! I can feed the animals?!! This was going to be even better than i thought. For $1 each you can buy a bag of corn and a bag of peanuts. We bought a bag of each knowing that our 3 year old would love this. (ok, and i would love it too). We walked out back and this is where your zoo adventure begins. We weren't really expecting much. We had never heard of this place and to be in the middle of the town like that we just thought it was going to be more like a petting zoo type thing. Which was still fine with us. But boy were we wrong!! This beautiful park has different types of parrots and monkey's, a black bear named Ben, a giraffe named Jack, a zebra named Stripes, a camel, a white tiger, Siberian tiger, and many other animals. We couldn't believe it!! I was in awe looking at these beautiful creatures. The animals are so close to you that its amazing. We recently went on a trip to a large zoo in Asheboro and i was never this close to the animals. I just love giraffe's and when i saw Jack i immediately went to him. I couldn't believe how close i was to him. If he had bent his head down i bet i could have touched him! I asked him if i could take his picture and he just stopped and looked right at me. I took a picture of him and then he stuck his tongue out at me. How hilarious! But it was just so amazing to be able to feed these beautiful and exotic animals. The miniature horses were great and i got a fantastic picture of my son feeding them. On our way out we passed the parrots again where the cockatoo said "bye bye!!" to us! This place is just so amazing. If you are ever in this area you absolutely must stop here and visit. Its by far my favorite place to go and i already can't wait to go back again and visit. Although next time, we will eat get our own bags of feed for the animals! For more information visit their website at more
