Abyssinia is a great place to get authentic Ethiopian food at a good prices. If you need more description than the menu offers, the servers are happy to help. Two types dining options are offered. The first is a traditional combination platter, which includes several smaller dishes served on a large platter covered with pancake-like injera bread for communal dining. Alternately you can order an individual entrée just for you. I recommend the combo platters because they allow you to sample a wider variety.
There are no utensils at the table, and eating with your hands can be a challenging adventure at times. However, it all add to the uniqueness of the experience. You also get a basket filled with little rolls of injera, which can help you to eat some of the softer-textured dishes. Plan on plenty of time to eat here, as the service and preparation are not at all rushed. The menu includes chicken, beef, lamb and vegetarian dishes with tons of flavor. If you are feeling particularly adventurous, try the raw beef 'gored gored" which is reported to be delicious (I haven't had the courage to order it yet.) They also have a well-stocked bar.
