This is a wonderful garden. I love how they have different sections that reflect different climates. When you first walk in through the front entrance there are dozens of different varieties of roses. During the spring when they are in full bloom the fragrance is wonderful. There are different sections like the "stairs" where many a wedding has taken place. It is also a wonderful place to take pictures. There is also a duck pond where kids of all ages love to feed the ducks. They are quite brave and at times will eat from your hands. You can see turtles swimming in the pond and also a blue heron visits there. On warm days, it's great to spread a blanket for a picnic or just lie around reading your favorite book. There is also a wide open grassy area where you can play a casual game of frisbee. It is not too big but by no means small. They also have guided tours, workshops, classes, a horticulture library, a small gift shop, etc. You can also hold events there at the Doris Duke Hall. Parking used to be free but you have to pay now to park. But it is worth it! more
