I finally tried the Boat Street Cafe on Western Ave this weekend. I had heard great things about the reopened restaurant (they were originally on Boat St. but moved to this new downtown/queenanne location) so was very exited to try them out in their new location.
The new space is a little odd on the outside-part of a work/loft building. But the inside is a totally different experience. Painted white exposed beams combined with wicker chairs and light colored wood tables topped with pale pink tulips make the environment very warm and inviting.
The food is french country with a heavy emphasis on seafood. Our favorites were, the pate starter and cheese plate, the whole trout, clams and roast chicken. They serve hot homemade bread with olive oil and olives throughout the meal which I could have eaten as my meal (it was that good!).
For dessert we ordered the bread pudding and panna cotta. The bread pudding was everyone's favorite.
Note: the restaurant is wine and beer only. With a 3 course meal and wine, we were able to get out of there for less than $50/person.
I highly recommend this newly reopened french cafe.
