My First Ferry Ride 9/30/2006

One of the places I wanted to see on our fall trip was Cape May, New Jersey. I'd long read about it in the pages of Country Living magazine and yearned to see this quaint Victorian town. If you're approaching from the south, as we did, the only way to get there is aboard the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. As we talked about taking the ferry, I pictured it looking like a flat barge. Not so! The ferry we rode aboard looked more like a cruise ship than what I had envisioned. I mean, we were even on this ferry with 18-wheel semis and tour buses. The crossing takes about 80 minutes so we had time to visit one of the gift shops and relax in the lounge while we enjoyed a soda. We spent the majority of our time on deck, though, watching the water and the other people onboard. It was another unique and unforgettable experience on our way to see the fall foliage. ~~~~~ The schedules and fares can be found online at . more
