My children and I have been eagerly anticipating the opening of our very own Build A Bear Workshop for many months! On Friday, the day after they opened, and the day I had told my children we would go, my three year old woke up, started clapping and yelled, "It's Build A Bear Day!!!!" Seriously, that was the first thing she did after her little eyes opened! Unfortunately, we had to wait for her brother and sister to get home from school before we could go. When they got home we headed up there, along with my Mom, sister, and my niece and nephew. The store is a lot noisier than any other Build A Bear I have ever been in. I think it may be because the stuffing machine is right in front of a glass window. I think the sound is vibrating off it. They really need to move it or something. This store also only has one stuffing machine (with two stations) unlike most of the other ones I've been in that have at least two. I let my three year old pick out a bear (only $10) since we had a few gift certificates from the summer reading program. I thought the man running the stuffing machine was pretty good. A little goofy, but the kids really seemed to like him. He made it fun for my daughter. We also went back the next day, to stuff a bear for the Ronald McDonald House. This time, the stuffing associate was even better. He had my daughters do all sorts of crazy things, and tried to get my 14 year old son to skip around the store. Since my son wouldn't do it, they made me do it. I felt pretty silly, but it was a lot of fun!
Even though we didn't make a purchase the second day we went in, when my 8 year old daughter asked for a new box for her bear, they gave her one, and also gave all the kids Build A Bear pins.
I really like this store, but hopefully they make those stuffing machines a little quieter!
