I'm not expert on Filipino food, but I've had my share of Goldilocks (uggh, no thanks) and my coworkers' pancit and lumpia shanghai to know a tiny bit. At my work, we just had a huge potluck with all kinds of interesting and amazing foods that left me wanting for more.
So our visit to Ihaw Ihaw was great. They serve up homestyle Filipino food, and though we were struggling over the numerous choices on the menu, everything we tried was awesome! The ihaw ihaw (bbq) is fabulous, as is the whole fried tilipia covered in a soy sauce/onion based sauce. We also a side of delicious garlic rice, veggies stir-fried with shrimp paste. Also, try the Southeast Asian version of lemonade-but better- Calamansi juice. Great version of halo halo here as well- served with neon purple ice cream, lots of shaved ice, coconut milk, red beans and jellies.
The majority of the customers are also Filipino, which means the food must be somewhat authentic! Service is fast and friendly. We'll definitely be back to work our way through the rest of the menu.
