My review in a word would be: Ripoff. Zazul quite possibly is the most disappointing restaurant I've been to in a long time. I went here for lunch with a friend a couple of weeks ago. We ordered one entree, an appetizer, and an iced tea. The total bill came out to $58. For lunch! If the food was amazing, I wouldn't be complaining. Unfortunately it wasn't.
We had the trio of ceviches, which came in a plate with 3 smallish scoops of ceviche each, along with a little basket of saltines. Um, saltines?! The ceviches were far from good- all three tasted overwhelmingly of lime- very one note and not memorable in the least. The entree of stewed pork came with 4 small chunks of pork wrapped in a banana leaf. It obviously wasn't cooked in the leaf, so I guess that was just for show. The amount of mango salsa given was the size of a tablespoon. To say the least, we were still hungry afterward. The pork was okay, but come on- I've had much, much better food in the Mission for a tenth of the price.
May be more reasonable for dinner, but they really need a separate lunch menu. So- overpriced, portion sizes were much too small for my liking, and mediocre food. I won't be back.
