Golan Heights serves consistently good Israeli food on Amsterdam Avenue in Washington Heights, near Yeshiva University, which is enough to make it the best restaurant in the neighborhood. Backgammon boards entertain you while you wait, which is rarely long, for schwarma, pita, schnitzel and salads. The meat is quite good, the portions abundant and the rest of the food good enough if you need a change of pace. The decor is hardly worth mentioning, and the bread could stand improvement.
