Darios is a small storefront restaurant at the Dundee corner of Underwood and N50th St. It is run, I was told, by a fellow from Eastern Europe who likes Belgian beers and opened the restaurant to feature them and Belgian food. Good concept, though risky in Omaha, town of 'cover that sucker with melted cheese'. Nice place, French/Belgian like inside with bench seating on one side, making tables easy to come together or to sit apart, and tables as well in the room. Hall-like with the kitchen and a bar of sorts at the back. You come here to sit, sip the heavy and nice Belgian beers (the country makes more beers than any other country), and eat their take on Belgian food, which is really not bad at all. Wine list as well, although the beers are the raison d'etre here. Frites (fries) come in a cone-like holder with mayo and catsup in little holders on the bottom (mayo, the only thing with real fries...they should try to make homemade mayo). Not as crisp as they might be but maybe in time. Moules (mussels, blue-blacks, not the awful green lips), tasty and a lot of them. Onion tart to start was mooshy: not hard to do, should be smarter. In all, for a first visit of a new place that is not one of the myriad chain joints about or a sports bar, tasty. Should improve with time, worth a shot now, nice waitstaff. more
