It's true, we live in Galveston and we drive over an hour one way to see Dr. McNamara and his staff in Houston. Why? Plan and simple, he provides some of the best primary care in Southeast Texas for gay men and persons with HIV.
There is currently one associate physician in his practice and two nurse-practitioners or physician-assistants. There is also an in-house phlebotomist in his office, several support staff, and a branch of the Statscript specialty pharmacy in the same building. Talk about one-stop shopping.
The doctor himself is kind, empathetic, caring, and knowledgable.
Downsides: Sometimes there's a wait to get phone calls returned, especially if you've left a message in the voice-mail system. That especially depends on which staffer you're trying to reach.
Bottom line: You can't do better.
