My dog Bailey (5 years old) was seeing Dr. Anthony one morning in April 2014 because he was vomiting most of the day. Dr. Anthony misdiagnosed Bailey to have a huge mass on his spleen that affected other organs and that Bailey had only 6 months to live. He had his assistant Peter come out from the mobile vet to deliver the bad news to my husband and me. Peter had gone back into the mobile vehicle and came back out and said that Dr. Anthony told him to not sugar coat this and to tell us Bailey may have less than that time to live and did we want to put him down or to operate. My husband and I were devastated by this news. We wanted to pull out all the stops for Bailey and asked Dr. Anthony if he could operate on him and remove the mass on his spleen. He said he had other patients and couldn't do this for 2 hours. My husband and I had second thoughts and asked Dr. Anthony if he could take our dog to the Specialists in Largo and he refused to help us. Dr. Anthony did not do any tests, nor an ultra sound or take any blood work on Bailey on that horrific day in April.\r

I drove Bailey to the Specialists in Largo as an emergency situation and they took him immediately into the internal medicine department where he was under the care of Dr. Osborne. They stabilized Bailey overnight, giving him intravenous and the care he needed before doing any tests. Dr. Osborne did a complete ultra sound the next day, examined Bailey and took blood samples. Bailey was diagnosed with Pancreatitis and was treated and watched over accordingly. Dr. Osborne said he saw a ""small nob on Bailey's spleen that couldn't be detected by your hand"". Only through the ultrasound he did. He said it is something we will keep an eye on but doesn?t warrant anything more than that for now. Dr. Osborne indicated to me that Bailey?s health was not a do or die situation, but that we were to keep a close eye on him regarding the Pancreatitis to be sure he eats the non-fat food he provided. He said if he starts to vomit again we?re to bring him back to the hospital. \r

Bailey is a beautiful dog and is very happy at home with his girlfriend Brandi and is doing very well. He is scheduled to see Dr. Osborne for a follow-up in July 2014. He will do another ultrasound and take a look at his spleen and check his Pancreatitis. The ironic thing about this was Dr. Osborne at the time didn't know Dr. Anthony had diagnosed Bailey with a huge mass on his spleen. I hadn't mentioned that to him at the time until much later. I was too consumed with my Bailey. It is my thought that Dr. Anthony was going to either kill my dog under anesthesia or do an unnecessary operation for the money. Dr. Anthony sent me a bill for $250.00 and said he was going to put my name in the collection agency. I then hand delivered the bill to his office and wrote on it saying to not put my name in the collection agency and that I had filed a complaint with the State Department of Business & Professional Regulation against him. It was only after that did Dr. Anthony have Peter the technician call me twice to not see how Bailey was, but to try and work something out. He never asked how Bailey was before this. The complaint is being processed with the State and I should here the outcome soon. I am optimistic that the Department will vote in my favor at which time all of this information about Dr. Anthony will be made public for all to see and be aware of so other beautiful animals will not lose their lives for no reason at all and families won?t have to go through what my husband I did.
