We have stayed at this B&B twice, the first time in June of 2004. Each time we were charmed by the owner Aglaia, who is more like a doting aunt than our hostess. The house is a roomy Victorian furnished with cozy antiques. Deep porches with comfortable furnishings make lounging easy. I took my laptop outside and easily connected with the free wireless.\r

Breakfast will take you all the way to dinner. Aglaia starts with a small cup of yogurt topped by fresh fruit. That's followed by a scoop of homemade granola which is served hot. The granola is worth the trip all by itself, and I never eat granola. Then comes the breakfast entree of the day: an omelet, breakfast quiche or other imaginative and delicious confection. There is plenty of juice, great coffee or tea. Guests are asked if they have dietary restrictions so each breakfast is tailored to please. Aglaia asks what time you want to eat breakfast, and if you say 5 AM, then that's when your breakfast is served. We usually ate around 8:30 or 9:00, often with other guests.\r

If you wonder where to go for dinner, Aglaia has been everywhere or knows someone who has. Ask and get useful restaurant advice for local places, or neighboring towns including Montpelier. Relax before bed with a complimentary glass of wine on one of the porches.\r

Be advised that all rooms are up stairs. Most rooms have a bath attached, but they are small. All rooms are also clean, comfortable, bright with large windows, and furnished with antiques that are perfect for the room. The top floor has several rooms and a large shared bathroom. If we had a family reunion, this would be a terrific venue.\r

This is not a slick hotel with brand new carpets and soulless atmosphere. This is a lovely old house with the attendant squeaky stair or two and the odd window that sticks. It's scrupulously clean, the plumbing works, the beds are comfy, the food is so delicious you'll groan with pleasure, and the setting is gorgeous. If you want charm and a homey atmosphere, you will not do better than here.
