One word---Terrible. Once upon a time Country Kitchen had great food and staff. Its unfortunate so much has changed over the years.\r \r There was only one server, Nathan, in the restaurant between 6:30-8:00 PM on Saturday, December 29th, 2012. He didn’t pretend to act happy or smile at any of the guests. As you can imagine one server in a restaurant during dinner rush resulted in a severe lack of timely service. A soda took 10 minutes and getting a dinner was just as slow. We asked for extra napkins when Nathan delivered the food, but those didn’t come to the table until we were done eating. There was one manager on duty, Jeanine, who was never seen on the floor helping out. In fact, the only time she we saw her was at the register as a guest would leave. \r \r The food was subpar. The sunrise burger my guest ordered was “tasteless” and slopped together. My walleye was bland, almost tasteless and wasn’t even served with a lemon. The steak was dry and the “baked apples” were still crunchy. The restaurant was dirty. We had to use the restroom immediately after ordering to wash our hands because of how filthy the menus were. \r \r There was an issue with the bill but Jeanine did not possess the managerial skills one expects a manager to have to resolve issues. Our concern/issue was never resolved. We paid far too much for a lack of service and class.\r \r When I got home and started researching this place I found out that the manager I dealt with is also the Mayor in Foursquare, which is strictly prohibited. Her ethics are despicable.\r \r Would I recommend this establishment to anyone? Absolutely NOT. There’s a reason a place as large as that is, can’t get people in on a bustling Saturday night.\r \r Perkins is a far better choice if you are looking for that similar casual dining experience. They offer a cleaner restaurant, better service, skilled management, and high quality food for around the same price. \r \r However, if you are looking for prices that may be a couple dollars per plate more, with similar soda and dessert prices, you should go to 3 Squares restaurant in Maple Grove. It’s a casual dining establishment and they have EXCELLENT service, delicious food, and the manager is always helping out on the floor, and checking in with the guests to see how their experience was. This is the way a restaurant should be run. \r more
