Wonderful experience 6/20/2011

Thank you for the wonderful experience at your kennel and for Gemini, our newest little member of the family. We were wishing we could have somehow taken all of them. But I think he will keep us plenty occupied and entertained! Our trip home was not too bad, He must have been ancious and nervous in his first car trip, and he decided the ""Fit-n-Trim"" wastn as good as he thought when we were filling out the papers. We stopped off the highway and cleaned it up and he slept a majority of the way home. He was such a precious little bundle. Well, it was a good thing we were only about 20 minutes form home because all of a sudden he woke up and gave us a little ""gift"" that sent hte car window surrying down! I know the puppy food didnt smell that bad going in! We all got quite a chuckle! We arrived at our in-laws around 11:45 pm!!! They came out and were just soo surpriced at our new addiciton and Gemini didnt disappoint. Well rested and much lighter, he proceeded to lay on the charm and entertain us all on the gront porch, right down to grabbing his leash in his mouth an dcarrying it around, He is such an alert and confident little dog and he really enjoys people. He is still trying to figure out his reflection in windows and mirrors, though. That one is throwing him for a loop. Of course, it si s agood thing the grocery stores are 24 hours, so a quick stop for puppy food and some other puppy necessityies were needed. We brought him home where it was nice and quiet and peaceful. We introduced him to the house and slowly let him investigate the upstairs for a while. he couldn't take in enough, and we quickly learned what ""puppy-proofing"" improvements were needed for his safetyand to protect our valueables. He loved checking out everything! We were planning on a somewhat restless night, but we weree very surprised by him. We introduced him to his bigger kennel and slowly he got used to going in it. When we shut the door, he whimpered somewhat but then he got used to it. When he noticed we were going to sleep too in a the same room he figured he might as well get some shuteye after a long day. The only noices he made all night long were that of shifting in his kennel to do a differenet resting position and a little puppy snoring! He slept until 8;30 am when my wife gets up.. We have had a few accidents in the house, but we are starting to develop a routine and housebreak him.. Today we left him in his kennel alone for 4 hours, and hwen we returned, hadn't wet or pooped in his kennel. It took him out to his potty place and he went outside. Of course, he got lots of priases for that! We are really enjoying his company and we can tell he is a very confident dog, but not too overbearing all the same. He is afraid sometimes, like trying to go down the stairs a this point. Going up he figured out, going down is alot more dangerous and scary for him. We wont push him too much, but rather let him build up his confidence and conquer the down portion when he is ready. more
